Delhi’s Old Cinema Halls

<p>The Single screen cinema halls in old Delhi are heritage structures today. Some of these theatres were established in 1930s and were city&rsquo;s prime entertainment hunts. They are now in shambles. These single screen cinema halls are located in Old Delhi&rsquo;s Sadar Bazar-Paharganj area.These include Ritz, Jagat, Novelty, Majestic Jubliee, Kumar, Moti, Minerva, Sheela, Excelsior, New Amar, Westend and Filmistan. Their period of glory was between in 1950s and 1970s. Today some of them survive in edifices while others have shut shop. Till the 1960s Delhi has 65 single screen theatres. The numbers have shrunk drastically and many cinema halls have shut down. Around 20 single screen theatres have shut in last past few years. This list includes cinema halls such as Filmistan, Sudarshan, Kamal, Savitiri, Archana, Minerva, Jagat, Palace, Robin, Kalyan, Novelty and Kala Mandir cinema.</p> <p><a href="https://medium.com/@rsingh151015/delhis-old-cinema-halls-865a9352f052"><strong>Website</strong></a></p>
