Church Ecology

After discovering this diagram and reading about holobionts, I now have three more articles I want to write about how this concept might shift our concept of human individuality in interesting ways… But, I’m going to hold steadfast and today we’re going to talk about church as a local institution and how, from a nested ecology perspective, that institution functions internally and externally. Certainly, there are many other layers to this onion — we could talk about the ecology of denominations, or the ecology of churches within a denomination, or the ecology of religions interacting with each other… So, let’s talk first about what we hope to glean from taking an ecological perspective on this topic and then let’s see if we can apply it in ways that help us acknowledge what is and then imagine something better.
