Road to Positional Success #7: 50+1, Champions League and La Liga.

We all remember the Super League. Well, especially Manchester United fans, that stormed the pitch, protesting against the Glazers once again — or should we say still. It’s also no surprise where Bayern’s “transfer” of Julian Nagelsmann did not keep the Twitter sphere happy either. And most obviously, there was football, with the semi-finals giving Madrid a draw while Manchester City got the better out of Paris in a somewhat bizarre clash. Meanwhile, La Liga’s race to glory keeps on, the pinnacle of tension to be found next week ~

The 50+1 rule

Set in 1998 in Germany, the 50+1 rule prevents stakeholder to “buy” a club, while fans (supposedly) remain in control of the decision-making in the club through representation. It is a rule to protect the fans, while dissuading investors from investing into the club for business purposes. With football and money increasingly developing a relationship, many businessmen have decided to invest in football for its profit(English fans will understand, as Manchester United and Arsenal fans suffer from respectively the Glazers and the Kroenke ownership).
