One of our own was shot.
<p>As so many of our members readied to celebrate the Lunar New Year, California suffered one of the worst mass shootings in our state’s history when 11 people celebrating the holiday were gunned down in Monterey Park. Two days later, another gunman killed seven people in Half Moon Bay. Later that same day, a gunman randomly fired outside and into a local gas station convenience market in Oakland, injuring four and killing an 18-year-old who was there to watch a music video being filmed.</p>
<p>And that’s where it really hit home. That’s where Zirl Wilson, a longtime member leader in our union and in his community, was hit by four bullets.</p>
