Does Cannabis Relieve Anxiety — Or Make It Worse?
<p>During the 1970s, <a href="https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF00432554" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">a number of research groups</a> looked at the effects of cannabis on anxiety. Those studies produced mixed results. Some found that anxiety increased following cannabis use, while others found that cannabis could in some cases relieve stress and anxiety.</p>
<p>Flash forward 50 years, and medical science’s view of cannabis remains murky when it comes to the drug’s role in anxiety.</p>
<p><a href="https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0289058" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">A just-published study</a> from the University of California, San Francisco, found that people who use cannabis are 17% more likely to experience anxiety than people who don’t.</p>
