Even though I’m an intelligent and well-educated individual, there’s a lot I don’t know. The human body is an exceedingly complex bit of walking science, and since mine has a habit of going rogue and growing unapproved cellular structures, I rely on medical professionals to help me manage it.
That doesn’t mean I always agree with them, though.
In 2022 I was diagnosed and treated for both colon cancer and thyroid cancer. Now I’m a “survivor,” but I am ferociously surveilled for signs of recurrence. They take my blood and look for various things you’ve probably never heard of (lucky you) and they put me in a giant doughnut-shaped machine to look inside me sometimes. It’s stressful and scary but mostly everything looked good for a stretch.
