<p>This Sunday, a suburban cinema in Dublin celebrates its 100th birthday. It’s no mean feat for any cinema to reach this milestone — think of all the ones that have come and gone during the movie-going boom years — and it’s even more of an achievement considering that this particular cinema once closed its doors for good.</p>
<p>The Stella in Rathmines, Dublin, opened on 29 January 1923, which was a Monday. At the time, Ireland was smack bang in the middle of the Civil War, which would go on for another four months.</p>
