<p>THE DAY I ARRIVED IN CAIRO, I hit the ground running&hellip; I had been traveling for months by that point and was full of the world. I felt as if the towering pagodas and stone temples of Kathmandu and the magnificent, soaring, snowy peaks of the Himalayas were coursing through my blood by then. So, too, the sacred temples and stupas of Varanasi, Rangoon, Mandalay, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Kyoto. My mind was boiling over with the imagery of those exotic cultures, especially the faces of the cheerful, polite people in their flowing robes, silken saris and beautiful longyis. I exulted in the delicious cuisine I had had the pleasure of enjoying and exulted even more so in the brief, but intriguing, interactions I had had with the yogis, rishis, swamis, priests and Zen masters of the East.
