What happened to the son of Caesar and Cleopatra?

On June 23, 47 BC, the last Pharaoh of Egypt was born, the son of the famous Cleopatra and the equally famous Julius Caesar, Ptolemy XV Philopator Philometor Caesar, nicknamed Caesarion — “little Caesar.” Cleopatra was formally married to her brother, Ptolemy XIV, at the time of her son’s birth. However, her husband was only 12 years old, and their marriage was purely a political act. Interestingly, he was Cleopatra’s second husband; she had previously been married to another brother, Ptolemy XIII, who ruled Egypt for four years but was forced to flee from the Romans and allegedly drowned in the Nile. Her second husband and brother would rule for four years and die soon after Cleopatra’s return from Rome.
