Foraging for Bush Treats:

Lilly pilly fruits resemble small berries, usually around 1 to 2 cm wide. Their shape is oval or round, with a waxy looking skin that can be pink, red, purple or even white depending on the species. The skin covers a translucent, jelly-like flesh that contains one large seed. The fruits tend to grow in dense clusters directly on the branches and trunks of lilly pilly trees.

When ripe and ready for eating, lilly pilly fruits should feel soft and their coloration will appear deeper. Unripe lilly pillies tend to be very hard and sour. These petite bush berries ripen at various times throughout the year, making for a prolonged harvesting season in the wild.
