What a Brisk Walk and Love Reminded Me on Thanksgiving Day
<p>The large turkey had been in the refrigerator for over 20 hours. It was soaking in a bath of olive oil, cayenne pepper, garlic, jalapeno peppers, citrus juices, and crushed, fresh herbs from the local farmer’s market.</p>
<h2>As I inhaled the rich marinade, a thought struck me hard. I was here, present, able to smell various aromas and appreciate deliciousness.</h2>
<p>At that moment, that act alone gave me a privilege so many others were not privy to. We’re always forgetting to name and acknowledge the moment, and instead dedicating precious cognitive cycles to the past or the future.</p>
