So You Want to Have Bottom Surgery: M2F-My First 10 Days

After four weeks of being off Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and a day of fasting and cleansing my bowels and a night of emptying my bladder, I arrived at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hills, PA for surgery prep. It was pretty much what you’d expect. Remove all jewelry and put on the gown while they stick the ports in your arm for the anesthesia, fluids, etc. They did repeatedly ask if I had something loose in my mouth, which I did not. I’m sure it was to avoid a choking hazard, but I’m like “No! Are you see something I’m not??”

Then I’m placed onto the gurney and getting wheeled down the hall to the Operating Room. I found that to be something of a surreal experience, like watching some character on TV more so than that person being me. Once in the room, the O.R. staff were busy staging supplies as a couple of others prepared to move me to the operating table, in the middle of which was a hole for my crotch area to straddle. The staff were overwhelmingly kind, but there was one remark that I really did not need to hear literally 2 minutes before being out cold: “Move him over here.”
