Buddha with a black nose — A short Zen story

A nun used to live in a Buddhist monastery in the beautiful valleys of Darjeeling. She would perform her duties sincerely and spent her days in peace. She kept a small silver-colored Buddha idol with herself, which she would worship every day with love by offering flowers and lighting incense.

Once, she embarked on a trip to China with her co-devotees where they visited many beautiful Buddhist temples and monasteries. Soon, she visited a large temple which contained 1000 tall statues of Buddha.

She was spellbound to see those beautiful statues and decided to worship her small Buddha idol in that temple. She took out the idol from her bag and lit the incense. She found that the smoke of incense was also reaching to other statues of Buddha in the temple, which she couldn’t bear.
