Folklore summer shoes: let’s talk about Birkenstock’s quality and sustainability

Maintaining a 250-year-old brand is certainly not an easy task, even more so maintaining high shares on the stock market in these uncertain times, but for Birkenstock nothing seems like a big problem. We have a sea of justifications to believe that Birkenstock is standing. Some celebrities like Kaia Gerber and Irina Shark using the Boston model to get their matcha fix at a New York coffee shop? Or would it be because of the iconic campaigns? No, Birkenstock remains creative, simple and effective, they are constantly on the networks, but those friends don’t need to stand out much.

So what makes the Birkenstock more than just a surf sandal? Quality and commitment. Perhaps a rarity in our current times. There is a lot of debate about sustainability but few explain what sustainability actually is. And even more so, they do not actually seek to reduce consumption through quality. Quality, that’s the point. The relationship between quality and sustainability often don't even go together. There are many brands that preach sustainability as a priority and brand values. We make the piece with recycled material, using many justifications to place the brand in the green group, but is it of quality? Or rather, how long does this blouse last after the first wash?
