The Story of Beaver Brook (from tragedy to recovery)

None of us actually saw it happen. It’s probably a good thing, since it would have invoked such traumatic feelings of helplessness. Many times I’ve closed my eyes and imagined what it must have been like to slip off that seemingly dry rock and tumble down the waterfall onto the wet rocks below.

His friend and I had gone up ahead and found him at the bottom of the falls, slumped over, conscious, and groaning in pain. His head and face were covered in blood. He wasn’t talking.

“Dude, you need to clean yourself up.” His friend tells him, handing him a bottle of water. The kids would be catching up to us any minute now, and the sight of all that blood would certainly be cause for some secondary trauma.
