Overview

In this AMA, Bankteller discusses his background in fintech and cryptocurrency, and his experiences with different projects. He then introduces and discusses Elephant Money — a financial co-operative built on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) which aims to provide “cash flow for all”.

BT’s Background

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into crypto?

My name is Tony Perkins. Known as Bankteller (BT for short).

I’ve been in Fintech for a very long time. I’ve been a computer scientist for a very long time. Coding since I was 10. I was also Chess champion. Studied at MIT. Worked as a Fintech consultant. Then I went on to work for State Street and Fidelity.

In 2011, during my time at State Street, I discovered Bitcoin and attended the first International Bitcoin conference that summer, where I met Roger Veer and Eric Voorhees.

Started mining Bitcoin when it was less than a dollar. Built my own GPUs. Probably the one of the biggest lessons learned in my life because I only mined 135 Bitcoin with miners that I paid three thousand dollars for. I could have bought a lot more Bitcoin for the same amount of money and just sat on it.
