Day 60 With GDHQ: Saving Development Time With an Asset Database

I’m no 3D modeler, at least not currently. Fortunately you don’t have to be, between the Unity Asset Store, and third party databases like Filebase you can most likely find what you need without having to make it yourself.

The Unity Asset Store is built into the editor, but to make use of a third party database, you’ll likely need to add a plug-in to your project.

example import from the Filebase plug-in

For the sake of consistent examples, I will be going over importing via Filebase.

To import third party packages into Unity navigate to Assets > Import Package > Custom Package.
