The Anatomy of a Law Student

Being tall helps. The taller you are, the more you look like Batman when you wear that gown. Joke.

I’ve been reading the law for about four years and it’s been some ride. My tip to anyone thinking of applying to law school would be to do it only if you’re truly passionate about the subject. Law is not a placeholder, something to do while you figure out what it is you really want to do. It’s a tough degree and unless you’re driven, you will not enjoy it. I’ve seen kids dropout mid-degree, burnout, and become a really sad person only because they didn’t enjoy what they were studying. (Even the ones who enjoy it are sad. Joke.)

Law demands time. All of it. Coming from a family of lawyers, I always knew that, but having gotten into the grind myself, I realise it now more than ever. You need to be really into it to be good at it.
