The Anatomy of A Meltdown

When I have a meltdown, it is a reaction which is brought on by a number of things, but mainly: 1) being overstimulated and therefore out of spoons or 2) being completely out of spoons, and everything is grating on my senses, further depleting my executive function and ability to do…well, anything.

If that sounds drastic, that’s because it is. And while I don’t quite have the words for it, I will do my best to explain what a meltdown is like for me. Perhaps other autistic adults can relate, or have sympathy for what I am talking about?
