AIDS, Polio & Never Giving Up.
<p>My mother’s birthday and World AIDS Day dovetailed each other for years, until her death at age 92, in 2007.</p>
<p>During her final years, I was grateful to be working for a national HIV/AIDS organization — life-affirming work which required me to travel across country in early December, to spread the message about HIV prevention, treatment & care. An added bonus was getting to celebrate my mother’s birthday with her, in person, each year.</p>
