Those in the Afro-Latino community are often shunned and doubly marginalized in the broader Latino community because of colorism, a preference for light-skinned, and prejudice against dark-skinned people. While it's fair to say the entire Latino community experiences racial discrimination in America and throughout the global community, it's also true that Latinos with African ancestry are often left out in the cold when discussions about representations arise.
