Review — Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai

Late September saw the release of Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai, a new spinoff in the Dragon Quest franchise based on the manga and anime Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. The manga first appeared in 1989, and Dragon Quest creator Yuji Hori enlisted Riku Sanjo as writer and Koji Inada as illustrator. That Akira Toriyama was not involved in the project is a notable choice, as the mastermind behind Dragon Ball did handle the video games’ artwork. Still, Toriyama and Hori’s influence is felt throughout Dai’s adventure.

Although Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is not a classic Dragon Quest game, the game contains many ingredients you will recognize as a fan of the series. For example, the story follows Dai, a young hero descended from a legendary order called the Dragon Knights who is destined to defeat the Demon King. Fortunately, he befriends other characters who will assist him in his quest, but before Dai can take on the Demon King Vearn, the team will have to defeat the six officers of his demonic army. Considering this is a Dragon Quest game, this army consists mostly of familiar monsters such as Slimes, skeletons, Drackies, Dancing flames, mummies or Scarewolves.

Learn More
